I still wonder why ICQ is the only protocol that stay online, when I unplug my internet connection or fiddle around in my router settings.

Why do debug symbols not work for ICQ protocol?

My crashlog is full of lines like:
03C84385 (icq 03C60000): (filename not available) (0): (function-name not available)


But symbols for miranda Core work fine:
004014F7 (miranda32 00400000): D:\Projects\Miranda IM\miranda-stable\miranda\src\core\miranda.cpp (192): forkthreadex_r


Isn't it enough to put the icq.pdb in the same directory as the icq.dll ?

Hello, would it be possible to make ICQ display the 'send file' context menu item for contacts which Miranda thinks are offline?

I removed a bunch of people from my server list (don't want status updates and such), therefore they always show as offline. Sometimes I need to send a file to them. They can send files to me, but when I open the contact context menu, the 'send flie' option is not there.

theultramage: "Send file" menu item is controlled by core, even if it would be driven by ICQ, letting it be shown would NOT be a solution... Reauthorize, that's what you should do :P

The other person I was talking to uses QiP, and sees me as online. But anyway, if he can send files to me, would something protocol-wise be preventing me from sending files to him? If not, then I'd suggest somehow fixing Miranda to show that menu item...

That is where are you wrong. The only place where authorization works is the server-list, whenever you remove a contact from server-list you lose its authorization. Currently OFT does not allow to send packets to offline contacts, that is a protocol limitation (the older protocol theoretically supported sending file request packet as an offline message, but the rest of the transfer still needed to be done when online). If you want to use file transfer you simply need to see that contact online, that is how it works.

since the 'offline' contact can talk to me and I can talk to it just fine, surely what you're describing is just an internal miranda-only limitation?
what I'm looking for is the place where this limitation is applied, and disable it...

Nope, messaging packets are sent as offline that is possible in the protocol. OFT packets does not support that. This is protocol limitation not Miranda IM ICQ plugin limitation.

For as long as I've had ICQ I've never really gotten many spam messages. Perhaps 1 or 2 every year, but lately I've been getting them nonstop. It's getting ridiculous. I only have one contact and I don't give my number out. I have block known spam bots enabled and web aware disabled, but obviously that's not enough. I also know about the various spam blocking plugins but I really feel that's a cheap way to go about the problem.

My question is this: Are there any other privacy features that haven't been implemented yet? I know a little bit about the AIM protocol and how it handles privacy and since ICQ is similar, does it share the same settings? I want to be able to block all contacts not on my server list. Is it possible?
