    Private Preference Remover!

    hello,

i have a big feature request. it's often, that i convince my contacts of using miranda :D. but they are't pc experts. so i say: "i send you my actual version!"!
but then, i haver to copy profil, delete all preferences at icq, msn, ftpfile, yamn, all contacts (buh, that's some bad work...) ...
i like to have a plugin, that removes all private settings and contacts and copys that to a new profile, so that i can send this one with my miranda folder top a friend!
    thanks!

I know there is or was such a plugin...
But I wouldn't be Erik? if I could remember what it was called.

    What's the correct frase...?
    -Go fish! :)
    It's out there somewhere.

    /Erik?

Why don't you just create a blank profile, with no usernames/passwords/personal data, set it up like for a normal use and just update the settings when needed (new plug-in added, new build installed, etc.) ?
That way you would just have to zip your current Miranda without your profile(s) and logs and just add the blank profile to the zip. Voila! Miranda kit created! :-)
Alternatively, you could refer to this thread.

I wrote such util for personal needs, but it's quite dumb :D No "Are you sure?" questions, no selection of what to delete (just ICQ and Jabber related options and all contacts). I don't whant to spread such and ugly testplug.dll ( :) ) So PM, or better e-mail me (nullbie at gmail dot com) to get a copy if you need such thing.

Or maybe someone will take the code and turn it into usable plugin?

nullbie gave me the sources (big thx to him) and I started developing this plug. But as far as I'm not experienced developer of miranda plugs the progress isn't going very rapidly.
At the moment I added confirmation dialog (some kind of "Are you sure?" :) ), some improvement to contact deletion and log of deleted settings.
In future I'm going to add some settings stuff and then release it as beta version.
    Any ideas is highly appreciated.

@buggled: please give me the list of settings, which you think are 'private' in form: module/setting. thank you.

Question: does the plug-in operate directly on the original database, or does it create a working copy first?

I still think this should be implemented somewhere in dbtool, which is already able to delete all history in one pass. But I may be wrong...
