Alarms plugin discussion thread

This plugin's function is very similar to the 'Reminders' part of the 'Notes and Reminders' plugin.

It allows you to set alarms of several types: once-off, daily, weekly, and weekdays. By default, when the alarm is triggered, it pops up a window with the title and description provided when the alarm was created, and plays a sound (configured like other sounds via options->events->sounds). You can opt to not show the window or play the sound, and you can have the alarm run a command.

The popup-window includes a snooze button - the snooze time is configurable via the options page (options->events->alarms).

You can choose to use the popup module instead of the built-in alarm window - in that case, left-click on the popup is snooze and right-click is dismiss.

You'll first have to complete it, in order for me to test it. ;-)

1. Speech support (read the description instead of/while popping that window)
2. Hotkey for snooze (SPACE would be fine)
3. System speaker support in case audio system is off/ unavailable
4. Monthly alarm would hurt anyone?!

Call me after you've finished implementing the above. :-P (He-he... kiddin')

I thought I might also add an option to automatically set an alarm based on a contact's b-day, if the info was available

Scott, I hate you! #1 was #1 on purpose! :-P
This means you'll have to trigger an event that'll be hooked by Contacts Notifier and turned into speech. I won't let you get away with this so easily. ;-)
As for the Birthday alarm, yes, it'd do, but still I'd like to hear "It's <nickname>'s birthday within <x> days", if you know what I mean. ;-)

I will add an API so that plugins can add events and know when they are triggered, so that it can be used as a sheduler etc. Then any speach plugin can do as you suggest.

AFAIK, Notifier is the only one with the speech feature thanks to me (how modest of me) :-P

Another one of my crazy ideas: could it be possible to add a "last day of each month" kind of alarm? Or better said " x days before the last day of each month".
Given that months could end on 28th, 29th, 30th or 31st, there could be the need to specify a certain alarm time relative to the last day, rather than the first day, which is always 1st.
For example, my net payment has to be done before the last day of each month, and I'd like to be announced about that, one or two days earlier.
