    Big problem with Miranda Database

    Hello,
    I have a very big problem with miranda database (.dat); [the database has been created by miranda 0.331]
    In this database there are all my contacts and all the history of my chat.
    If I try to load the database, miranda says: "signature mismach"
    I tried also dbtool, but it says that " Database signature is corrupted, automatic repair is impossible "
    I have already tried to load the database on miranda 0.4; but the problem is the same :( !!!
    If is it necessary, I could upload the database in this forum. (or with a link)

    Someone can help me, please?
    It's very important for me recover the database, or at least open it, to copy the information.

    Thanks :)

    what happened for you to get your database in this format? It sounds like you had some serious corruption.

    ...yes...sorry..I don't say that before;

    I believed that miranda 0.3 saved the database in the directory "C:\programs\Miranda IM" and so, I just made a copy of the directory, and I uninstall miranda, because it always crashes.
    In this way miranda has deleted my profile/database, and so I have been forced to recover it with a program of recovery.
    The file has been entire recovered but miranda doesn't load it; Someone
    are able to open it, at least, in order to copy the
    information?

    Thx

    So what happened with this copy...? can't you just use the db from that copy...?

    Recovering any files doesn't mean they'll will work... from my personal experience with recovering files I can tell you that most of the times the recovered files just won't work... I belive the same happend to you... AFAIK there is no way to recover your db...

    ...I know, but the recovery program "says me" that all the byte are been recovered with success.

    .
    You can tell Miranda where to save or from where to use *dat file.. just edit the mirandaboot.ini file:
    Code:
    ;ProfileDir
    ;The directory to search for database files. If it's a relative path then
    ;it's relative to the directory containing miranda32.exe. Default is .
    ;You can use environment variables, so NT people may like %APPDATA%
    ProfileDir=.
    if you live it like this it will save (or use) your *dat file in main Miranda directory. Put in there your saved copy.. and it should work

    Yeah... sadly that doesn't guarantee the file will be good... :/
