Hotmail notifier stopped working

I am using Hotmail notifier. Used to work fine but a few months now when I click the mail notfier nothing happens anymore. Normally my browser would open with Hotmail.
Is there a fix around or another plugin that works fine?

If you are using MSN protocol you can use it. Just add yourself to the contact list.

Is there a way to remove notification in the tray using the Add-yourself method?
I get the flashing symbol all the time, which can be distracting if I get frequent emails and don't check it often. I also open my contact list by double-clicking on the tray icon, and when the message is flashing, it opens a browser instead.

Yes there is. It's in Options | Network | MSN | Notifications.
