Thread: freshly installed latest Miranda, can't connect to MSN!?

freshly installed latest Miranda, can't connect to MSN!?

I just downloaded and installed Miranda (latest version). I added my MSN account and try to connect, but it doesn't seem to work.

When I click Status > Online, it seems to be doing something (I see the spinng thingy that seems to represent 'connecting...') but after 3 sec or so it turns back to offline again. No errors, no messages, nothing. It just remains offline :(

My MSN account details are correct (just logged in manually at msn.com to verify).

For testing purposes, I also entered a wrong password in Miranda and tried to connect. Then it says "wrong password". So apparently somehow it is doing the check (after chaning it to the right password again, the error no longer shows up when connecting). But still, I can't seem to get online...

    What's up?

Looks like Miranda blocked by firewall.

The firewall popped up the first time I tried; I explicitly configured it to give Miranda 100% full access (in & out).

Also, it is was blocked, I assume it would not be able to tell that my password was wrong? (which it doesn't say if I use the right password..)

In case it helps, here is a Version Info and Netlog: miranda_logs.zip

you got Winsock error 10013 - Miranda is blocked (by firewall I guess). Try rebooting the computer.

Did you configure ports for outgoing connections in Miranda by chance? (If you did take them out)
Did you allow Miranda to communicate on private and public networks? (By default only private is checked).

It looks like some kind of internet security thing. It allows Miranda to make only one connection and no more. And 1 is not enough by far.

I got it working! I rebooted, deleted my firewall rules & recreated the rule to allow all Miranda access (this rule was actually there already, but just in case), and it works OK now. Thanks again :)
