MSN username/password errors

Yes everybody having the issue right now who are using stable. If you are using developemnt versions there are no problems.

You will have to wait until Micrsooft restore their older servers.

Some user suggested changing the password from A-Za-z0-9 to a-z0-9 (i.e. no uppercase letters). That works for me! I tried multiple times to login via Miranda with the old PW and it did not work. Inbetween those attempts I could login via Pidgin without any problem. After changing the PW to lowercase Miranda could login to MSN immediately.

So for those still having problems with MSN login, try changing PW to lowercase. I suggest that you lengthen the PW significantly to avoid getting a PW that is easier to hack.

Why should we wait the older servers up again? if other clients OPEN CLIENTS doesnt have that kind of problems.
i think that Miranda IM should be current and working in the circumstances.

Now im using meebo :S because im waiting 4 the fix of the problem.

There will be no fix for the problem. You have 2 options:

1. You can wait until MS updates their servers, that could be a week, a month, or never. As protocol Miranda 0.7 is officially deprecated by MS a year ago.

2. You can use Miranda 0.8 that uses a latest protocol.

If MS does not update their servers in 2 weeks we will probably put 0.8 MSN into 0.7.

But from what I hear MS does repair their servers gradually, more and more people can connect as time goes by, when it will be your time I do not know.

EDIT: Miranda 0.7.8 does work currently for passwords consisting from lower case letters and numbers, no upper case and no special characters.

The lowercase password works for me too. Using 0.7.8 again now :)

Yes I can confirm passwords lower case letters and numbers, no upper case and no special characters do work.

Yes works for me too. Took nearly 2 weeks though :). Last time it happened about a year ago it was the same issue (took 2-3 weeks to fix it), but at that time there was no workaround at all in Miranda.
