I hope you backed up your database before upgrading...

You should first try to convert the old database to the new format, using DBTool -> Convert to UTF-8 and check for errors. But please do so only after you've backed up the DB, otherwise you may lose your history and/or settings.

    yeah, its backed up (sigh)
    Will try your suggestion now.
    Thanx

Do I need to get this DBTool from somewhere? I dont see anything like that in miranda menus or in the miranda's folder.

It should be there, in Miranda's folder. If not, please check the original Miranda package that you've upgraded to and extract it from there (if it was a zip) or just reinstall if you used the installer.

You haven't offered any information regarding which version you've upgraded to (0.7.3 stable, 0.7.4 RC2 release candidate, 0.8.x alpha) - however all of them should contain DBTool within the package.

It may be missing if you used any third-party preset package, in which case you will have to download the corresponding package from the official Miranda site and grab DBTool from it.

I did the convertion, but now I get another error on startup.

You have the TopToolbar plug-in installed and you're currently using clist_classic. TopToolbar needs a frame-enabled contact list, and clist_classic isn't, so either you search for the plug-in that adds frames support to clist_classic (forgot its name - maybe 'JustFrames' or similar) or you switch to one of the other available contact list modules (clist_mw, clist_modern, clist_nicer), all of them supporting frames.

Either way, make sure you update all the old plug-ins (TopToolbar included) to their latest available versions, otherwise incompatibilities (and crashes) may appear.

Please check this thread for useful links - try developers' pages, while the Addons site is down.

I'd suggest you try each of them and keep the one you like most, based on your personal preferences.

As for plug-ins, just grab the newest version available at the download location. If you install the VerisonInfo plug-in and configure it to output the report to a text file, you may then check the release date and/or version for each plug-in against the Miranda VI site.
