Miranda IM v0.8.0 Build #9 Discussion

I am not going to touch my sane #7 setup this time - too many changes. :p

But I love to read about the fact to have several accounts with the same protocol.
This is also nice for FRIENDS coming at your house and wanting to go into THEIR ICQ account for awhile...for the time being, I always had to have genuine ICQ5/6 handy, too.

For now, things that bother me are:
- The New account dialog much too wide
- Protocol type dropdown list bug in Win9x - set size manually, don't use AUTO

The Jabber exit crash in Win9x has been fixed - thank you very much for this, George! *thumbs up*

Will do extensive testing much later (my machine is very busy currently).

MSN goes after 1 sec Online Offline again since i have 2 new MSN contacts called with the TelNumber of 2 other MSN contacts. Who wants the full Network log per pm?

nice - i am waiting for the account manager since MIM 5, now will only have to wait plugin dev do adopt their code (i mean IRC ;). Now with the manager and the "register as IM" plugin will be miranda able to handle link - at some sites there is a link on wich if you click and have mirc install the the irc client will connect automatically to a definite channel on definite server?

@NEOhidra, there is still no "main" irc developer,
and "multiple accounts" means not in any case that you could connect dynamic to multiple servers, the account manager only remove the need for a protocoll.dll copy.

I don't know what ghazan think about it, but this are two pairs of shoes.

There should be no problem to be connected to several IRC servers, as far as I know. But sure... there is a new IRC dev needed for.


Edit: In the statusbar of clist modern all protocols (ICQ, MSN, IRC, Jabber) are display as "abc", which I added as a test jabber protocol.

Does this mean that we can have more than 1 AIM account without having 5 AIM plugins, for example? Sounds good!

wow that would be nice for msn, icq, irc too, because them I don't have to take care to update every on these plugins :) (1) they will probably all follow or better to say: they could all implement it or?).

2) further question: many of my plugins don't have uuid yet ... what's the purpose of the new uuid and what do I do now? look:

it'll take ages for these to have the uuid since many of them aren't updated or maintained anymore I think ... what's now? I want to update to #9 or versions that will follow (#10 etc ....) but I can't miss these plugins ... :( I don't know if somebody will update openfolder, optionsfont, fileasmessage and contactvisibility since they are very old ...

3) and another question: can I grab all plugins from #9 (so that I have newest irc, icq, tabsrmm, etc) without using miranda.exe (so that I don't have these plugins blocked without the uuid)???

Is there a way to permamently remove group "Non IM contacts"?
Every time i start MIM (with build 0.8.0.9, ofc) - it apears, and when i delete it, then restart MIM - it appears again.

Edit: solved. Options -> Contact List -> Hide Empty Groups.
