[plugin request] Alternative Clist-PlugIn

Hello there...

Im looking for a new Clist-Plugin which should look similar to RocketDock or Y'z-Dock (I think everybody knows how it looks, however at the end is a screenshot of my dock) including the all the smooth animations (mouse-over and click effects =) ).

Is this possible?



Instead of the PNGs the contacts would be displayed....

Possible? Yes, of course, (almost) everything is possible.

But if you would look at how complex a clist plugin actually is and add those features - well, it would probably take a long time to create one. That's not something which can be done in a few weeks.

Given the fact that this would only be "eye candy", not adding really useful things and probably make usability worse than in a standard clist plugin, chances for such a plugin to appear are pretty low.

There are also a lot of usability problems which cannot be solved easily. How would you handle scrolling when your list has lots of contacts visible? Most docks don't need to scroll, because the number of items is usually low enough to fit on the visible part of the panel. That's not the case for a contact list which can have hundreds of visible items. And how to handle groups, indentations and other things which are useful to present the contacts in a structured layout.

Like I said, it may look cool, but usability of such a clist would be a nightmare.
