Thread: File transfer using short file names.

File transfer using short file names.

    Hello,

Recently I've noticed that when I'm sending files with names longer that 11 characters they are sent with Windows short names, i.e. "longfilename.ext" becomes "longfi~1.ext". This happens with Miranda 0.6.8 Unicode when sending files to ICQ contacts (using the same version of Miranda). I'm able to receive files with long names though.
    Any ideas why this happens?

Try using the 'File' context menu entry instead of drag'n'drop file onto message window input area.

will there be a fix for that?
using the file menu is pretty complicated sometimes, instead of drag and drop.

Yes, it was fixed in SRMM recently. I think the other messaging interfaces fixed this a while ago though.

Problem in SRMM fixed in PR, was word after backslash in the path was missing when file transfer event displayed in the SRMM window (this was only display problem nothing more) not short file names used when you transfer the file (aaa~1.txt for instance)

Short file names were fixed early in 0.7. So if this person having that kind of problems he using very old SRMM
