    Some (few) requests :)

After playing with miranda for almost 2 months, I think it's time to say my opion on what's missing. So, in order of my priotities:

1 - History should log to html/xml formatted files, not on to db (would prevent bloating of db).

2 - Contact status changes loggin (even with no window open) for all contacts, viewable in a single place (Ã* la messenger plus). maybe yapp cand do that in the future (if filtering popup history gets implemented)

3 - A way to hide avatars from offline contacts, but still be able to see their names in contact list (would save a lot of screen space). Show avatars only for online contacts.

4 - Make the msn idle status supported.

5 - Increase the limit of characters clist modern supports for a contact's message status (currently only 108 chars.) Many status messages get cutt off in the middle.

6 - Emoticon support for tipper.

7 - Get rid of all the bugs lol :)

    1) yuck, if anything I would prefer logging to text files but I like having only 1 file to manage for everything, keeps it portable and organized. why bother with how its stored, the app lets you view/edit history I have 6 years of history in my profile and its 20 meg or so, my ICQ history alone when I migrated from ICQ 2000 was like 15 meg at the time, and it too stored in its database. Anyway this topic has been abused to death and there are alternative in plugins which fits mirandas philosophy.

    2) again this should be handled in a plugin, I personally don't care about anyone else's statuses. (pretty sure YAPP should not handle this as its only a popup plugin)

    3) this should be handled in clist_* miranda itself ships with clist_classic which does not have the feature of having avatars on the contact list. request this option in whatever contact list you are using.

    4) last time this topic came up (if I remember correctly) the MSN protocol did not support the idle status, if this has changed you can request it to the MSN developer using the bugtracker

    5) again, this needs to be a feature request to the clist_modern developer (either the bugtracker or the clist_modern thread)

    6) request to the developer

    7) report the bugs and help the developer track them down, hard to get rid of bugs if they are not known

Great response... you know, I'm using miranda for just two months and really fell in love with it. Customizing it is great fun. In the same spirit as customizing Opera.
What I have now fits 99% of my "dream" IM experience ;)
I've used all types of im clients, even those from linux and found not a single one in the same level as miranda.

I think I'll start to program in C++ again to make my own modifications... but damn, it was so long ago :( I don't remember a single word of C code no more... lol

Available as optional plugin (message export for example). Not logging to the db isn't a good idea as it would break a lot of things (Mirandas design depends on the database in many ways). There are solutions, however - a virtual db, a "nohistory" plugin, a history sweeper and maybe more.

DB bloat isn't really a problem. My db is 40MB and there aren't any issues with it. A large db doesn't even slow down Miranda noticeable.

Depends on the contact list plugin. clist_nicer+ has such a feature.
